Three Plants Totaling Over 300,000 Square Feet
Chicago, IL

SITUATION:

  • To improve efficiencies, Fresh Express closed three leased manufacturing facilities and consolidated operations to a single location in Chicago.
  • Fresh Express’ three leases, all with different landlords, required facilities be returned to their original form. (As if Fresh Express was never there)

SOLUTION:

  • Fresh Express contracted with Schneider Restoration on a turnkey basis, to manage all aspects of the project including:
    • Equipment transfers to Fresh Express’ new facility
    • Pumping down of all ammonia and other refrigerants
    • Returning all floors, walls, ceilings and roofs back to their original form
    • Working with sewer, water and gas utility companies
    • Selling and removing of remaining machinery and equipment
    • ALL COMPLETED WITHIN THE ALLOTTED TIME FRAME

Throughout the entire project Schneider Restoration worked closely with Fresh Express’s engineering group to insure all details were reviewed prior to implementation.

Fresh Express hired Schneider Industries to clean out three, large, leased, Chicagoland facilities, while Fresh Xpress moved into one modern plant in order to increase efficiencies. The project goal was to return the facilities back to the landlords’ specifications. Schneider’s responsibilities included rigging and moving equipment to our new site, pumping down ammonia, repairing floors, walls and ceilings, utility management including, gas, electric, sewer and water. As well as remove hangers, piping and large banana wooden storage units. All while being completed in the time allotted. I would recommend Schneider Industries for any Facility Management Restoration Services.

SITUATION:

  • Seneca was getting out of the canned fruit business and closing it’s 2 million square foot fruit processing and canning facility.
  • The plant was one of the largest single location fruit processing and packaging operations in the world.
  • The real estate was being sold. All equipment needed to be removed and the plant needed to be restored for the new owner.

SOLUTION:

  • Seneca contracted with Schneider Restoration on a turnkey basis to manage all aspects of the project including:
    • Managing a five-day auction event consisting of almost five thousand pieces of equipment used for fruit receiving, processing, packaging and plant support.
    • Rigging and transportation of Seneca’s internal transfers and sold equipment to buyers.
    • Demolition and Restoration of the process floors, all cooling and all packaging rooms.
    • Scrapping of unsaleable items

Seneca was able to have this project completed without any cost. At the end of the project, Schneider Industries returned a clean plant to Seneca along with a check for the equipment sale.

You and your team have been a pleasure to work with. This was not an easy task and did not fall into your normal scope of work due to the size and timing. Please make certain to direct any future customers who are looking for a reference directly to me. I will have nothing but positive things to say. The easiest thing to do in life is to tell the truth. The truth is easy to repeat over and over!
